Milan Community Trail Project

Milan Community Trail is not just the mowed area adjacent to the ball fields at the Rec Park. Thanks to local volunteers, the trail skirts along the edge of the landfill cap, continues into the woods and extends for about one mile to a scenic hilltop. It is well worth checking out. Thank you to all who helped yesterday in prepping the ball fields for the little league season. We had a good turnout and the ball fields look great!

Please also consider joining us for our annual Milan Community Trail Cleanup on Saturday, April 9th at 9-11am. We will meet at the transfer station and then walk across the landfill cap to the entrance of the trail. If you get there late and have not been to the trail before, just cut across the landfill cap to the West and you will see the beginning of the trail in the tree line. It is a great trail that gets to some nice high ground.

Are you interested in helping others, leaving your community better than you found it, making new friends? Then the Milaners Youth Group is looking for you! If you’re a student in the Rhinebeck, Red Hook or Pine Plains School Districts, or a concerned parent that lives in the Milan area and would like to be a part of our community projects please contact us –

Also please consider attending “Operation Free Ride,” as part of Hidden Hollow Farm’s “Horses for Heroes” program. It is a great cause and Hidden Hollow Farm, a nonprofit, has been a generous supporter of the community for a long time.

It’s the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day – Come Celebrate, Learn About and Do For the Planet at the Hudson Valley 40th Anniversary Earth Day Celebration! This is going to be the largest 40th Earth Day celebration in the Hudson Valley. What better venue to hold an Earth Day Celebration than the beautiful, green, Dutchess County Fairgrounds!

What’s happening on those two days? Everything, from hands-on, interactive, family-friendly activities, to educational programs, concerts and so much more!

Cost to the Public is minimal: We’re committed to making this event affordable for families and seniors. $5/adult. Children under 12 and seniors over 65 attend at no charge.

The Hudson Valley Earth Day Celebration will happen a couple of days later at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck April 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The two-day family festival, being billed as the official Earth Day event of Dutchess County, will feature everything from live music, vendors, educational and children’s activities, a farmers’ market, vegetarian food tastings, yoga classes and, yes, tree plantings.
